Abstract / Introduction / Summary:
The stygobiotic shrimp of the family Alpheidae, Metabetaeus minutus (Whitelegge, 1897), is recorded for the first time from Yoron Island, central Ryukyus, Japan, on the basis of the specimens collected from an anchialine cave in the island. This represents the sec- ond habitat record of M. minutus from Kagoshima Prefecture; the shrimp species was previously known only from Okinoerabu Island belonging to the prefec- ture.
