Abstract / Introduction / Summary:

Specimens of Paraleptuca splendida were collected from Tanegashima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Okinawa Island, Okinawa Prefecture. These represent new locality records for the species, with Tanegashima Island constituting the northernmost and easternmost limits of its known distribution. The present study further identifies new diagnostic characters distinguishing P. splendida from P. crassipes: the male pleon is broader in P. crassipes, whereas the subterminal process of the first gonopod is longer in P. splendida.
