Abstract / Introduction / Summary:

Helice tridens (De Haan, 1835) and Scopimera globosa (De Haan, 1835) were recorded based on specimens collected from three and five river mouths, respectively, on Tanegashima Island, northern Ryukyu. In contrast, their closely related species, H. epicure Ng, Naruse and Shih, 2018, and S. ryukyuensis Wong, Chan and Shih, 2010, which are endemic to the Ryukyu Islands, were not found. The island is likely the southernmost distribution limit for the two intertidal crab species inhabiting mainland Japan.
