Abstract / Introduction / Summary:

Ceratothoa verrucosa (Schioedte and Meinert, 1883) is a parasitic isopod and inhabits a buccal cavity of marine fish. In this paper, we report on an ovigerous female and an adult male found in the buccal cavity of a crimson seabream Evynnis tumifrons (Temminck and Schlegel, 1843) purchased in Chiba Prefecture. This fish was caught off the coast of Kagoshima Prefecture. This finding represents the sixth case of C. verrucosa parasitizing E. tumifrons and the second record from Kagoshima Prefecture. We also report the known hosts and distribution records of C. verrucosa in Kyushu, along with the morphology of our specimens.
