Abstract / Introduction / Summary:
A varunid crab, Ptychognathus takahasii Sakai, 1939 (Decapoda: Brachyura), is reported based on the specimens collected from the south coast of Kyushu, southern Japan. A brief description and several figures of these specimens are provided. This record repre- sents the first discovery of the species from Kyushu Is- land.
