Abstract / Introduction / Summary:

A pyramidellid mollusk species of the genus Globostomia L. Hoffman, van Heugten & Lavaleye, 2009 was found in the intertidal rocky shore of Miyazaki prefecture. This is the first record in Japan and also in a coastal area. Globostomia pervicax L. Hoffman, van Heugten & Lavaleye, 2009, the type species of the genus, was described on dead shell specimens found in the bottom sediment of 1443 m deep from the Rockall Bank, North-West off Ireland, though the box-core sample contained also a shallow water poriferan species. The Japanese species studied on only living specimens was sorted out from intertidal coralline algae. The soft body with pyramidellid features was photographed.
