Abstract / Introduction / Summary:
A single individual of Choerodon margaritiferus (Labridae) collected from Kakeroma-jima island, Amami Islands, Satsunan Islands, Japan, was photographed (specimen not retained) in October 2023. This species has previously been recorded from Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, and Indonesia, and in Japanese waters it is known only from Okinawa-jima island. Thus, the Kakeroma-jima specimen represents the first record of the species from the Satsunan Islands, and also the northernmost record for the species.
