Limnobium laevigatum (Humb. et Bonpl. ex Willd.) Heine (Hydrocharitaceae) is recorded from Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, for the first time. It grows with some invader plants in a sunny stagnant pool in Kagoshima City and narrow channels in Shibushi City.
